If the suggestions given by internetsubmit.net is anything to go by, the site description for my blog is terribly wrong. The site says the following rules should be observed if we ever hope to see our website or blog listed on the Internet:
(1) The description of the site should be concise and accurate.
(2) It should not be promotional, but objective, in nature.
(3) Descriptions should be brief - no more than 25-30 words.
(4) Avoid HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) but write in complete and grammatically correct sentences instead.
(5) Avoid ALLCAPS in the description.
No wonder my blog cannot be found. A description like "new media, web 2.0, rss, social bookmarking, PR2.0, communication," (see image above) certainly doesn't make any sense now that I look at it again.
In following the 25-30 word rule, perhaps something like "A blog designed by a beginner for beginners who are dedicated to the study and application of new media tools and solutions for public relations and communication purposes."
28 words. Not bad. And I quite like the phrase if I may say so myself.
Now let's see how this fares.

OK, so I've just managed to get my blog 'pinged' on Technorati, and just when I thought I could get my site 'claimed' there, I get a note saying that my URL has been flagged, and an additional reference to Technorati's Blog Quality Guidelines. So I've started a blog on New Media! |
