What's Promulgation.Rubicon (PR) About?
This is my social experiment - my nascent foray into the 2.0 world of public communication, blogging, new media and all.
Why the name Promulgation.Rubicon (PR)?
Apart from the play on the letters 'PR,' it also represents at once the purpose (the promulgation, or the messaging) and the dream (the Rubicon, or the imaginary line I have crossed, my point of no return).
This is a journey of unlocking my thoughts about the new territory of public relations and communication in the wild world of Web 2.0.
By the end of this experiment, if it ends, I hope to make sense of things like social tagging, Twitter, del.icio.us, RSS, wikis, and other social media and how they all relate to PR today.
What I know for now is that these tools may be part of the grand future of PR, but I hate it that I know so little. My rudimentary steps have begun with books like PR2.0 by Deirdre Breakenridge and The New Rules of Marketing & PR by David Meerman Scott. These are just some of the books I'm now looking at and their ideas are interesting (and I'm not being paid to mention them!!!), but there are many others whom I'll make connections with as time goes by, and you'll see me try to shape this site into an evolving library of PR2.0 issues.
If things go right, this website should get better with time. If not, please feel free to tell me how it should improve. This blog belongs as much to me as to others out there who share the same questions as I do: What's PR2.0 and how is communication fundamentally being redefined by new media solutions and platforms?
Feel free to connect with me via Twitter, Facebook or email. Send me your thoughts about the ongoing discussions, or suggest new areas to look into. You could even send me questions and we'll see if we can get to an answer along the way.
Come join the conversation!
